Snow Alert!

Well, nothing like starting the New Year with a snowstorm!

Here are some tips for preparing for a snow storm:

  • Avoid burst pipes by insulating exposed pipes even with a towel and leave a slight drip in your lowest level faucet.

  • Make sure you have water, flashlights, and other necessities if this becomes a multi-day event or in the event of a power outage.

  • Baltimore City Public Schools will let us know if there are delays and cancelations. The snow day policy is the first three snow days are actually snow days. After that, it is virtual learning. The school closings and delay policy is here.

  • Plan your snow day, if we have one. The best snow sledding hills in our district are Wyman Park Dell on the N. Charles Street side, Clifton Park near Harford Road and St. Lo Drive by the baseball fields, and Stony Run lower meadow entrance on Craycombe and Tudor Arms. If I missed any, let me know!

Here are some tips for during and after the storm:

  • Check on vulnerable adults and families to make sure they have what they need, and please report to us any problems.

  • Shovel your walk and your neighbor's walk especially if they are an older adult. When shoveling, put salt down on the walkway.

  • Please have patience as the Department of Transportation plows the streets. The crews will be out in force and will start plowing emergency routes first, then main roads, then secondary roads, then side roads.

  • For fallen trees, please contact 311 first and then send us the confirmation number so that we can escalate.

As always you can contact our office on 410-396-4814 (the voice mail has been updated!) or email our main email address odette.ramos@baltimorecity.gov for any challenges you might be having.

Let's look out for each other during the storm.
