Upcoming hearings in the General Assembly

HB693 is the Governor’s rental housing security package. I will be testifying in favor with amendments on the portion regarding the right of first refusal/tenant opportunity to purchase.

HB777 is a bill to add water bills back into tax sale for non-owner occupied properties. I will be testifying to oppose this legislation unless it’s limited to vacant and abandoned properties.

HB721 makes it clear that Baltimore’s mayor can remove homeowners from tax sale. This legislation is not needed as he already has that authority. But it will clarify the point if passed. I submitted a letter of information to that effect.

HB599 is the Governor’s finance package creating a new entity to attract new markets tax credits, and changing the allocation of Strategic Demolition funds to include debt service. I submitted testimony in favor with amendments.
