Celebrating Junteenth!
Today we celebrate the Juneteenth holiday, a celebration of the end of slavery. This holiday commemorates the day that slaves in Galveston TX were made aware they were free - two years after the Emancipation Proclamation and after the passage of the 13th Amendment to the constitution. That last message came on June 19th, thus the use of the word Juneteenth for the celebration. You can find more here.
