District 14 Team Goals for 2022
Our team is committed to bring you excellent service! We will continue to work with you to resolve the issues in your district - from traffic calming, to illegal dumping, trees down, beautifying our parks, power outages, vacant housing, problem houses, and more.
Legislation includes reform of the Inclusionary Housing policy, continue the work on tax sale reform, provide another tool to address vacant and abandoned housing, group home reform, some zoning and urban renewal plan legislation, improve students' commute to school, new tax incentive structure for development, and charter amendments to make the Department of Legislative Services independent, and more.
Initiatives we are continuing and could use your help:
Clean, Green District 14 initiative: This group works to help keep District 14 clean. We are working on signage to stop illegal dumping on our Olmstead medians, lawn signs encouraging people to keep our district clean, and organizing clean ups across the district. We're thinking about ways to help our schools engage our young people. Let me know if you'd like to join.
Older Adult initiative: Our Older Adults are our most valuable asset in our district. However, they need additional supports to help them age in place with dignity. We are launching a program this year to help our older adults aging in place in conjunction with Gilchrist, Rebuilding Together Baltimore, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service and others. Volunteers are needed to help canvas.
Tax Sale Prevention: Similar to last year, we will be assisting residents of our district to avoid tax sale. This generally begins in February and lasts through end of May. It includes putting flyers in neighbors doors, direct assistance as needed, and fundraising.
