Renters Rights after the State of Emergency

FAQ on what happens with rent after the State of Emergency ends on July 1st:

  • Rent cannot go up starting July 1st. According to legislation passed last year by the City Council, landlords cannot increase rent or charge late fees throughout the pandemic and also 90 days after the state of emergency is lifted. Here is the legislation.

  • The city's Eviction Prevention program is still available! Please continue to apply for rental assistance if you need it. Here is the link.

  • Mayor Scott announced a new Security Deposits relief program which will begin in the Fall.
