Renters Rights as eviction moratorium ends

  • Rent cannot go up after the end of the State of Emergency. According to legislation passed last year by the City Council, landlords cannot increase rent or charge late fees throughout the pandemic and also 90 days after the state of emergency is lifted. Here is the legislation.

  • The city's Eviction Prevention program is still available! Please continue to apply for rental assistance if you need it. Here is the link.

  • Mayor Scott announced a new Security Deposits relief program which will begin in the Fall.

  • The City Council just passed legislation to ban landlords from evicting renters whose leases end and 180 days after the end of the State of Emergency. You cannot be evicted when your lease ends until December 31, 2021. Here is the legislation.
