Statement on Governor Hogan on Waverly Main Street last week

On Tuesday, November 2nd Governor Hogan, Maryland DHCD Secretary Ken Holt, Senior Advisor Kieffer Mitchell and a few others from the state came to visit Waverly Main Street - Glorious Greenmount Avenue - and talk with business owners about how they have faired during the Pandemic and offer assistance. Waverly Mainstreet Board members, Delegate Boyce, City Mainstreet officials, and I were also present. The Governor visited 5 business - all of whom survived the pandemic and some of whom received assistance from state and city resources.

Hogan committed several resources and provided opportunities for these businesses to apply for more funding.

And then, Hogan and his team posted the photos on his Twitter and Facebook pages - using the event to promote his Re-Fund Police initiative.

All of us - businesses, Main Street, and I are stunned! We do not subscribe to Hogan’s policy and he never was transparent. We were blindsided. Some of our businesses have taken to Social Media to make him apologize - which he won’t.

We were blindsided by a Governor who doesn’t like Baltimore anyway, and used our success to tout a policy he made up that has nothing to do with our business community. Shame on the Governor, it is another sign that he really doesn’t care about us anyway.
