Tax Sale Updates - Help for paying taxes and waiting for the Mayor

Last week, advocates and I held a press conference to ask for details about Mayor Scott's plan to help homeowners in tax sale. Here is the Baltimore Sun article about the press conference. We used the occasion to also launch our efforts to reform the system entirely.

While we wait for details from the administration, we are not waiting to help people. Here’s how we are moving forward:

—The SOS fund has some money available to help homeowners get out of tax sale. Please click here for details and scroll down.

—We are encouraging everyone to try to get the amount they owe down to $750. Baltimore City must pull anyone with $750 debt or less out of tax sale according to state law.

How can you help?

—Contact Mayor Scott and Finance Director Henry Raymond to continue to encourage them to take homeowners out of tax sale. You can contact Mayor Scott here.

—Donate to the SOS Fund so that we can help more people. Here is the link to donate.

—Donate to the fund that has been established to help residents in Better Waverly which is in my district. Here is the link.
